'Private Residential Tenancies' were introduced in December 2017 by The Private Housing (Tenancies) (Scotland) Act 2016. One vital change is that there is no minimum term for tenancies; tenants can serve 28 days’ notice at any point from the start date of the lease. In most cases, the requested deposit will be the equivalent of one months rent, although this can increase up to the equivalent of two months' rent in some cases.

Examples of references that tenants require are: financial, bank or building society details, employer reference, landlord reference, personal reference, and on some occasions, a guarantor. Leasing negotiators at Peterkins will obtain these references for you. Typically, it will take between 7 and 10 days to move into a leased property. It can vary, as it will depend on property availability, receiving references, and the correct legislative measures being in place.
